St Michael's 950 Anniversary
St Michael the Archangel was founded in 1070 which makes it Southampton's oldest functioning building. 2020 represents the 950th anniversary of the church
The Anniversary celebrations began on Advent Sunday 2019 and will include notable Services throughout the year together with a series of International and National concerts starting February 2020 details listed below
The Anniversary celebrations will conclude on the weekend of the Patronal Festival, the first weekend in October 2020:
- Saturday 3 October 2020 the evening will feature a concert given by current and former members of Cantores Michaelis including the International Jazz & Blues singer Joe Stilgoe to mark the 20th anniversary of Cantores
- Sunday 4 October 2020 10.30am Patronal Festival Eucharist The Venerable Meurig Williams Archdeacon of France will preach
- 6.30pm Solemn Sung Vespers to which leaders of other faith communities will be invited. The Venerable Meurig Williams Archdeacon of France will preach
